A Valuable Resource for All

The media map is designed to serve as a crucial tool for the government media practitioners, researchers, and the general public. It provides vital information on the country’s various media outlets, including newspapers, radio stations, television channels, and online platforms.

During the presentation event, NCC President Joseph Chebonkeng Kalabubsu clarified the Council’s role in media licensing. “It is the Ministry of Communication that issues licenses, after consultation with the National Communication Council,” he explained. “We consult, but we are not the ones who make the final decision. Our focus was not on who has a license or not, but on identifying which media outlets exist, where they are located, and who owns them.”

Commitment to Media Development

By publishing this map, the NCC underscores its commitment to regulating and developing Cameroon’s media industry. The initiative seeks to support the creation of a more informed and engaged citizenry, while fostering a culture of responsible and ethical journalism.

Why It Matters

The media map is an important step toward enhancing the transparency of Cameroon’s media environment. It is expected to not only improve access to information but also encourage greater engagement and professionalism within the media sector.
